The Portal Solution – We think business, not buildings
To overcome this problem the Bank decided that neither solution would meet their requirements so they decided to investigate the possibility of a new build in location a few miles out of Chatham. Impressed with the speed of delivery that they had achieved with the building of a bespoke facility for energy giant E.ON, Portal were invited to tender for this opportunity. However, during the discussions Vanquis’s business plans dramatically changed and they needed the additional space immediately.
Mike Field, Head of Strategic Projects at Vanquis, explains how Portal provided an innovative solution to the problem;
"Portal stepped-in and suggested a 'third-way'; an approach to property procurement that would enable us to occupy our preferred choice immediately, on a 'managed' rather than leased basis."
Portal then took responsibility for the entire project. They acquired the Pembroke Court property, fitted it out to the Bank’s exact requirements and despite tight timescales, delivered the entire solution in just 3 months from taking occupation of the building.
Mike continues, "Adopting Portal’s Occupier Solutions approach negated our need for a new build and reduced our commitment to property by almost 50%".
What the Portal solution delivered:
- The space the bank required at the time – with options to move into additional space in the future
- The infrastructure – including the comms room, cabling, power provision and resilience, workstations, security components, kitchen and break-out facilities
- Support services – including FM and security
- Guaranteed initial delivery – plus on-going delivery of the infrastructure and support to agreed service levels
